Much of the present day Campidoglio, one of the seven hills of Rome, was redesigned by Michelangelo in the 1530s. However, the complex pavement he designed to resolve the awkward geometry of the piazza at the top of the hill was not executed until the 20th century.

The exquisite openwork pattern of enlarging pointed arches refers to the twelve constellations, as this space is known to the Romans at the caput mundi, the head of the world.

This sterling silver bracelet in sterling silver has been adapted from Michelangelo’s deceptively complex design for this pavement. A beautiful talking point and fragment of the Renaissance to wear every day.
