For eight years, MaryRose Occhino remained trapped in her home and her body. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 40, the Mastic mother of three found herself bedridden by her debilitating disease, which made it nearly impossible to stand, walk or even eat.

MaryRose Occhino, who some of you might know as the psychic-intuitive host of “Angels on Call” on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio, has a new spiritual gift shop, called Celestial Whispers, on Main Street in Center Moriches. Ms. Occhino will conduct psychic seminars at the store every other Saturday beginning on December 19, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mary Rose Occhino, a rising star from Long Island, has already written two books: “Beyond These Four Walls” (Berkley Books, 2004) and “Signs of the Dove” (Berkley Books, January), which chronicle her life as a psychic-medium and her battle with multiple sclerosis.

Despite her disability, Occhino, 53, of Mastic, works long days, which include doing quick readings on her two-hour Sirius satellite radio show called ”Intuitive Intervention” and overseeing her Web site, celestialwhispers.com.

“Psychics-mediums help people connect with their loved ones,” Occhino said. ”They are grief counselors and help people reach some kind of closure where there previously was none.”
